Who – Mothers’ Milk Bank’s donors are women who produce milk in excess of their own babies’ needs and who complete the screening process. Babies who receive the milk may be premature or have severe illnesses and need human milk to thrive.

What – A nonprofit program of Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation (RMCHF), Mothers’ Milk Bank (MMB) collects, tests, processes and provides donor human milk to babies across the country. MMB is also a member of and adheres to the strict guidelines of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA).

When –  MMB was established in 1984. Since then, more than five million ounces of milk has been collected from more than 12,000 donors and dispensed to more than 120 hospitals in more than 35 states.

Where – While MMB is physically located in Denver, Colorado, it has donors from all 50 states. This is made possible by the many Donation & Outreach Centers that serve as drop-off locations for donors located all over the country.

Why – The health benefits received from using human milk for newborns, especially premature newborns, cannot be replicated by any commercial formula product. Donations to and receiving milk from a nonprofit milk bank guarantees that the milk will be safe, unaltered and provided to the babies who need it most.

DONATE MILK. SAVE BABIES.

Do you produce milk in excess of your own baby’s needs? If so, consider donating to Mothers’ Milk Bank. Your extra milk could help babies in NICUs all over the country. Just one ounce of milk can feed a micro preemie for an entire day.
