A letter from Laraine Lockhart Borman, Director of Outreach:
As healthcare providers, saving lives and enhancing the health of babies is what you do, and we thank you! It is also what we do at Mothers’ Milk Bank. We support the American Academy of Pediatrics’ recommendation on the use of human milk for a baby’s first year of life, particularly for preterm babies and NICU infants.
Mothers’ Milk Bank (MMB), a program of Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation, is a non-profit donor human milk bank in North America. As a member of the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA), MMB screens, collects, processes and dispenses donated human milk as a community service, providing human milk to babies whose own mothers cannot supply the milk to meet their baby’s needs. The components of donated milk are unmatched by any commercial formula; immune properties, growth factors, hormones, enzymes and many other factors that optimize the health of infants are present.
I invite you to partner with us in this important mission to educate the community about the benefits of human milk for infants and this amazing opportunity for women to donate their excess milk or receive pasteurized donor milk if needed for their own babies.
To request supporting and promotional materials to distribute and display please call me at 303.869.1888 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
I’m also available to schedule time for an in-service to speak with your staff so that everyone can know about the safety and availability of donor milk and the requirements for becoming a donor.
If you are interested in scheduling an in-service, please call me at 303.869.1888 or email email@example.com.
Human milk is a gift. It is one that can and should be shared. Mothers’ Milk Bank helps women safely share their milk, but we need your help spreading awareness and recruiting donors.
Thank you for all you do!
