DENVER – December 2023 – Lenna Gregory, Donor Relations and Outreach Manager for Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation’s Mothers’ Milk Bank (MMB) program, has been elected to the Board of Directors for the Human Milk Banking Association of North America (HMBANA). HMBANA is a national organization that oversees the 32 nonprofit human milk banks in North America, including Mothers’ Milk Bank in Arvada, Colorado, where Gregory works.
Through her new position on the Board of Directors, Gregory will play a vital leadership role in upholding standards for excellence and safety across the associated milk banks and will lend her experience and perspective to advance the nonprofit milk banking industry as a whole.
“Lenna has an abundance of specialized knowledge and heartfelt passion for donor human milk that has helped our own milk bank grow and evolve over the years,” says Rebecca Heinrich, Director of Mothers’ Milk Bank. “I am thrilled that she will be able to apply that same perspective and dedication on a national scale through HMBANA’s Board of Directors.”
Gregory first connected with the lactation space in Colorado in 2002 when she worked for Colorado Health Foundation’s Lactation Program. In 2013, she became a Milk Technician at Children’s Hospital Colorado, where she coordinated human milk feedings in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and provided resources and support to new parents. In 2018, she began working at Mothers’ Milk Bank, first as a Laboratory Technician and later as a Donor Relations Coordinator. In her current role as MMB’s Donor Relations and Outreach Manager, she plays a critical role in connecting the organization with new parents, both by guiding them through the milk donation process and by offering education and lactation support.
“Lenna has worked in every aspect of milk banking, from processing the milk itself to helping increase community awareness about its benefits,” Heinrich adds. “That depth of knowledge is an incredible asset both to our organization and to the HMBANA Board.”
Gregory’s term on the HMBANA Board of Directors will begin in January 2024.
